Attractions

Magyarhertelend

Welcome to one of the most beautiful villages in Mecsek-Hegyhát! Magyarhertelend, one of the most popular bathing spots in Hungary on the northern slopes of Mecsek, is located 20 km from Pécs. It can be reached from the county centre through Orfű and through Mánfa-Magyarszék on route 66. Dombóvár - Sásd - Hops can be reached by bus and train.

Our resort wall has an advanced infrastructure, an independent public administration-circular centre, a doctor's office, a kindergarten, a thermal bath-sauna park, a well-equipped grocery store, a snack bar selling local handicrafts, a pub, a lookout, a capuchin local brewery and friendly, hospitable local residents.

Historia: The name of the village was first mentioned in a register from 1333 in the form Horcholond. One of the oldest monuments referring to the history of the village is the III. century. The old Roman road led to the north-northwest by touching Magyarhertelend and Barátúr, as well as the route connecting Pécs with Veszprém in the Middle Ages. During the Turkish occupation, the village fell victim to Ottoman attacks several times. In the 1760s, Germans settled in the eastern part of the village. The town of Barátúr, a few kilometers from Hertelend, was already inhabited in the Middle Ages. It was annexed to today's Magyarhertelend in the seventies, and its name is preserved by the street named after it.

Today's Magyarhertelend: 1958 was a significant turning point in the life of the village with nearly 700 inhabitants, when 40 degrees Celsius thermal water burst to the surface in search of uranium. Later, in 1979, another well was opened. The content of calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese, iodine, paraffin and carbonic acid in the thermal water of 62 degrees Celsius is mainly suitable for the treatment of rheumatic, joint, circulatory and nervous system diseases and for the relief of pain. In addition to the thermal bath, a holiday village almost identical to the size of the village was established on the hillside covered with forest, especially in summer. The thermal bath was purchased by a new owner in 2007 with the aim of continuously developing the bath and making it internationally renowned. The outdoor part was completed by 2010, the indoor part with its adventure pool, restaurant and the largest and best sauna world in Transdanubia opened its doors to those who want to bathe and relax on November 25, 2011 and has been becoming more and more popular with our guests looking for demanding bathing and sauna experiences.
